Vlado Salis, Heart of Europe’s very own singing chef, won the 2009 Dolny Kubin repete, last night, with the beautiful song Krasny je zivot. You can see a clip from the song below – apologises in advance for the enthusiastic if somewhat tone deaf audience (feel free to comment on Vlado’s performance and remember to give him a good rating, thank you):

Vlado was not the only star to appear at the concert. Dusan Grun was the celebrity act, who entertained the crowd while their votes were being counted. Grun was good value for money, going through a number of his classic songs.

I suppose you could say that the Dolny Kubin Repete is a kind of Orava SuperStar and winning the competition means that Vlado now goes forward to the next round. I am sure all the regular readers of Vlado’s Slovak Recipe Corner all wish him the best of luck!
